Fabulous Forest Flowers!

I hope you get into the park to start seeing these fabulous forest flowers. Colorful, unique, amazing these flowers are like hidden treasures in the sea of majestic redwoods and lush green ferns.

Hounds Tongue can't be missed as their gorgeous indigo colors are striking. They are all over the park including the Westridge trail, Vienna Woods trail, Oak Loop trail, Old Growth Loop trail, Buggy trail, Terrace trail, as well as the fireroad.

Their common name comes from their leaf which looks like a big hound dog's tongue.

Milk Maid flowers are white and delicate. They are also all over the park, seen widely along the fire road, especially near the winter gate, and on most other trails as well. They are unique as they start with a thin leaf along the stem, then as they mature they grow a wider large heart shaped leaf at the base.
