December 2025 Native Forest Restoration Day (NFR) Report
12/14/25
Advocates officially kicked off our Native Forest Restoration project, beginning the long term effort to return The Forest of Nisene Marks back to its original eco-state.
We had a great turnout with 27 volunteers, including Advocate Board Members and State Park Personnel (Gilbert).

Thanks to our generous sponsors, the group enjoyed tasty pastries from Companion Bake Shop, much needed and delicious coffees from Pacific Coffee Roasting and charged our energy with fruits and snacks from New Leaf Community Markets. A big Thank You to our sponsors!

The December event was the official kickoff to Advocates' Native Forest Restoration program. Over the course of the coming months and years, we will remove invasive species such as English ivy, French Broom and others while making room for native species and relieving our native trees of their invasive burden of climbing ivy.
What We Accomplished:
Removed Ivy from Forest Floor and Trees

Highlights:
-
Removed over 5,500 square feet of English ivy on the ground and clipped ivy from 97 trees!
-
Refined our ivy discard strategy, minimizing the footprint of pulled-ivy piles.
-
Had a ton of fun along the way!
