December 2025 Trail Day Report
Advocates officially kicked off our Native Forest Restoration (NFR) project, beginning the long term effort to return The Forest of Nisene Marks back to its original eco-state.
We had a great turnout with 25 volunteers, including Advocate Board Members and State Park Personnel (Gilbert).

Pacific Coffee Roasting, Companion Bake Shop and New Leaf Market provided nourishing coffee & breakfast.

What an amazing team effort we saw at the Advocates kickoff to the Native Forest Restoration program!

What We Accomplished:
Significant Progress Removing
Invasive English Ivy
Highlights:
-
Together the crew saved more than 97 trees from climbing ivy and cleared 5,600 square feet of ground ivy - a fantastic accomplishment!
-
Less than one week later, the cut tree ivy is wilting, which is extra amazing given the wet weather we've been having.
-
Where ground ivy was removed, ferns and other native plants are perking up and looking great!
What's Next:
-
For January and beyond, NFR efforts will be part of every Advocates Trail Day. Please consider joining the fun - we meet the 3rd Sunday of every month. Our next Trail Day is on January 18, 2026 - sign-up here!.
-
In addition, we intend to schedule more NFR events like December's that focus on Native Forest Restoration.
